Semester projects fall 2022 and spring 2023
An initial exploratory project was carried out over two semesters at the HumanTech Institute. The aim of this project is to propose a tool for visualizing and manipulating papyrus fragments in three dimensions (recto/verso). The role of this application is to generate a papyrus of the desired dimensions, to position the fragments owned by papyrologists in the form of a photo, and to manipulate the virtual papyrus (rotation, zoom, etc.). The first iteration of this application was tested using the Iliad papyrus owned by the « Fondation Martin Bodmer, Cologny (Genève) ».
To date, fragments are automatically extracted from photos and labelled. Recto-verso matching is also done automatically. Finally, these fragments can be placed on the 3D object, which can then be manipulated.
